Upcoming Card Workshops

September 3

It’s that time of year again and I’ve managed to get 6 cards together that i’m happy with enough to do a couple workshops with.  The firs one is on the 26th of September and the  second one is on the 24th of October. Both are from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00P.M., or when we’re done playing.

I’m hoping people come to have a fabulous time and make some fun cards.  If you want to see more about the super-awesometastic fun I attached the flyer to the post.

Get Well Card

April 26

IMG_3444I needed to make some get well cards over the weekend, and I really wanted to try a new card type, so here’s what I ended up with.  The Butterfly Basics Stamp Set worked really well with this card tooI think that next time I will do a slightly different pull for the card though, or a different fold.  For the card all I did was the standard fold and then used Fast Fuse to stick the other side to it.  I seemed pretty stiff and sticky to move.  I think I’d make it a little narrower so I could fold over about a quarter inch and stick that down.  I don’t know, I’m going to have to fuss with it I think.IMG_3445

Quick Card

April 25

IMG_3448Just made a quick card for one of my friends to let them know they mattered.  Used a new masking technique on it too. I’m having a lot of fun with these tiny cards.

Birthday Invitation

April 24

IMG_3659 IMG_3650I had a busy Wednesday Night this week.  The project was a Double Slider Birthday Invitation.  I’m using these to send out for my son’s birthday party in March. I used Wild Wasabi for the green, Crushed Curry dry embossed with bricks for the yellow and Naturals Ivory for the base.  I’m still a little annoyed with the Name part, but it was the only thing I could think of for this area.

Valentine sparkles

February 9

I made a fun Valentine the other day while I was playing with my new alcohol markers.  I made the hearts from the sliver glimmer paper that was colored with the cherry cobbler set.  Great fun!sparkles

Way to go!

June 11

wayToGoApparently I was on a roll tonight.  I made this great, simple looking Congratulations card.  I was trying to figure out what I could do for the angle lines, that wasn’t ribbon.  Then I remembered I got a stamp in my Paper Pumpkin that was a great set of arrows.  Love the polymer.  I still need to work on getting a closer aim on the lineup, but for a quick congrats card not too shabby.  Freshly Made Sketches - Sketch 140

I think for the heck of it I’ll enter it over at Freshly Made Sketches.   I tried one that had different colors for the lines, but I just couldn’t get into it.   The color changes seemed way to abrupt.  I probably could have used stamping off to get a gradation of the lines, but that actually wasn’t something I thought about until just now.  At one point I thought maybe it was too plain, so I added some sequins to it randomly.  It added some shiny, but really didn’t do anything for the overall card and well they looked tacked on.  I’ll take a picture later so you can see what I mean.  I guess simple is the best.

I like all the base ideas these sites give.  Hope you have a great night and happy crafting!

Flowering Thanks

June 11

flowerThankYouWow I haven’t posted in a while…  I made a great new card tonight I’m really happy with!  I tried a bunch of different options for the center of the flowers, but I kept coming back to the Jewels Basic Rhinestones.  You just can’t beat the glimmer and believe me I tried to find another option.  I tried Stickles and pearls and beads… they all just did not look right.  I also tried the rounded corners on the card for the first tim and I think that added a bit to the ‘elegance’ of the card.  I figure it’s once enough I’m going to enter it in the CAS(E) this sketch #79.Sketch #79

I stuck with a fairly simple idea.  I wanted a nice thank you card that used the new mini flower punch and was something I would be proud to send to a loved one.  One that really showed how much what they did meant to me.  I think this did it.  The red of love in the flowers and the growth of that love in the vines springing flower with bounty.

I know enough of me waxing poetic.  I do really like this card though.

Mother’s Day Card

February 16

I had some time free from the hubby and Tiny person today, so I got to work on some cards .  I decided to get a head start on some Mother’s day cards and came up with a fun one. It’s a gate fold card, using Stampin’ Up’s Soft Suede as the base.  I don’t remember what the designer paper is, but the other colors are Soft Sky and Daffodil Delight.  I used the Floral Frames Framelits Dies to make the gate and the Inside writing area.  I think next time I would do some sponging on the gate flowers and perhaps emboss the center of that flower in gold or early espresso.  I’m just not fully happy yet.  The sentiment is from the  Delightful Dozen set.

Since this is a square card, I’ll have to use the envelope punch board to make an envelope for it and i’ll probably cost a little more to send, but I think it’s worth it.  Had a great time making it and I’m going to have to make some more.

CAS Colours and Sketches Sketh hallenge #61

I also decided I was happy enough with it that I’m enter it in the CAS Colours and Sketches Sketh hallenge #61.  I like the input I get on the cards, especially if there are tips or tricks I could have, should have, or might have used that I didm;t think of or don’t know.

Have a great day and happy stamping!

Congratulations Party

With graduations right around the corner, we’re going to get a head start making some great cards for the occasion.  I’m going to have one card holders and other variations soon for March 5th too.

Brains and the Paper

Don’t forget you don’t have to make these specific ones, there a lot of different options to choose from.  Just remember it will probably take a bit longer for me to get the supplies together for them.
